Car free Sunday on 20 September 

Please note that Sunday 20 September will be car free Sunday. 

Vehicles will be prohibited from entering the entire Brussels-Capital Region between 9.30 am and 7 pm. However, this does not mean that pedestrians, cyclists and other road users can do as they please! Traffic regulations remain in force for everyone. 

Public transport will be free on this occasion and the frequency of most service lines will be increased 

If you need to travel by car on that day – for example, to get to work – you must apply for a special exemption. The form is available online. 

In 2027, there will now be two car free Sundays: 2 May and 19 September.
